Characteristics

Two Images (Blue)
By Victor Pasmore, 1984

A striking abstract screenprint in colours by the celebrated British artist Victor Pasmore, one of the leading figures in the development of post-war abstract art in Britain. Executed in 1984, the composition demonstrates Pasmore's mature visual language, combining carefully balanced geometric and biomorphic forms in a harmonious arrangement of colour, line and space.

Initialled and dated in pencil, numbered 19/70, there were also 20 artist's proofs.

Set against a warm ochre ground, vibrant blue abstract shapes are juxtaposed with delicate linear elements and subtle accents of green and black. The simplicity of form belies the sophistication of the composition, with each element carefully positioned to create a sense of rhythm, balance and visual tension. Characteristic of Pasmore's later work, the print reflects his lifelong exploration of abstraction and his belief in the expressive potential of pure form.

Presented in a contemporary frame and mount, the work is ready to hang and would make an excellent addition to a modern art collection or contemporary interior.
