An introduction to traditional rush seating, making your own stool to take home.

Spend the day with us at our Northamptonshire workshop learning the fundamentals of working with natural rush.

We'll begin by introducing the material itself and showing you how rush is prepared for weaving, before taking you step by step through the traditional method used to create a hand-rushed seat. You'll learn how to handle the rush, build the seat evenly, maintain tension and finish your work neatly.

By the end of the day, you'll have completed your own rushed stool to take home with you, as well as an understanding of the basic techniques involved in rush seating.

The workshop runs from 10am–4pm. All tools, materials and your stool frame are included, along with tea, coffee and a locally sourced lunch. We keep class sizes to a maximum of four, allowing plenty of time for individual guidance.
