Characteristics

Mid Century Circular Rattan Mirror
Italy, 1950s

A stylish and beautifully composed mid-century Italian circular rattan wall mirror, dating from the 1950s and embodying the light, organic aesthetic that has made Italian rattan design so enduringly popular.

The mirror features a central circular mirror plate enclosed within a warm honey-coloured rattan surround, itself framed by a larger outer ring connected by an intricate arrangement of woven and looping canework. The sinuous, sculptural pattern creates an elegant sense of movement, lending the piece a distinctive decorative quality while maintaining the simplicity associated with mid-century modern design.

Handcrafted from natural rattan and cane, the mirror displays the subtle tonal variations and texture that give these materials their timeless appeal. Its balanced proportions and airy construction make it particularly well suited to interiors seeking warmth and natural character.

Equally at home in a hallway, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom, conservatory, or entrance hall, this mirror works beautifully as both a practical and decorative focal point.

Presented in very good vintage condition with light age-related wear consistent with its period. The rattan retains an attractive mellow colour and the mirror displays beautifully.

Sustainability

The average piece of furniture generates approximately 47kg of carbon dioxide equivalents – roughly the same as burning 5.3 gallons of petrol. Buying this item second-hand versus a newly made equivalent recovers the energy used to make it, rather than generating further emissions and using new materials.
