Great interiors are rarely created through furniture alone; they are layered with objects, art, and decorative works that bring personality and depth to a space.

With this in mind, we have been steadily expanding our collection of Original Prints and Decorative Works on Paper, developing what has naturally evolved into an online gallery within the wider Summerfield + Scott world.

What Are Original Prints?

Original prints are works of art created by artists specifically for reproduction in limited editions using traditional printmaking techniques such as etching, lithography, woodcut, screenprint or engraving. Unlike reproductions or posters, these works are considered original artworks in their own right.

Many of the most celebrated artists in history have worked extensively in printmaking. From the intricate engravings of Albrecht Dürer and the atmospheric etchings of Rembrandt to the bold graphic works of Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró and Bridget Riley, prints have long offered artists a way to experiment with ideas, techniques and composition.

Today, original prints remain one of the most engaging and accessible ways to collect art.

A Curated Approach to Works on Paper

The collection at Summerfield + Scott is curated by Charlie, who spent over a decade as a Specialist at Christie’s in London, overseeing prints and multiples spanning more than five centuries.

That experience informs our approach, leading to a range of historic prints, vintage works on paper, and modern editions, brought together with a focus on quality, visual interest, and how each work might sit within an interior.

Rather than focusing solely on blue-chip names or a single period, our aim is to build a varied and visually rich collection. A 17th-century engraving might sit comfortably alongside a mid-century lithograph or a contemporary print, creating a considered, lived-in layering of styles.

Original prints and works on paper bring texture, history and visual depth without needing to dominate a space, and they can be layered together to create gallery walls or used as focal points above furniture.

Building an Online Gallery

What began as a small extension of the furniture business has gradually become a much broader offering. Today the prints and works on paper collection continues to grow, forming what we think of as a small online gallery within Summerfield + Scott.

As with all of our collections, the emphasis remains on pieces that bring character and individuality to interiors — objects and artworks that feel considered rather than purely decorative.
