Introducing Ceramics by Summerfield + Scott

New for AW 2025, our ceramics collection has been sourced directly from Provence, where each piece is designed, hand-crafted, decorated, and glazed in the same family-run studio that has been in production for nearly 50 years. Having collaborated with this pottery on private projects for many years, we are now delighted to introduce a curated selection of their work to our collection - initially comprising a range of table lamps, serving bowls and plates - and are extremely proud to be the only people to be importing these ceramics to the UK. These pieces share the same values as our restored antiques — tradition, authenticity, and longevity. Designed to be lived with, loved, and passed on, we hope that each and every piece will become a timeless companion to our furniture, bringing character and heritage to your interiors.

A Provençal Story in Every Piece

This small atelier combines the best of local Provençal design traditions with inspirations drawn from Morocco and Denmark, creating pieces that feel both timeless and contemporary. Every item is fired at over 1000˚C at least twice, ensuring strength and depth of colour. Shades are drawn straight from the Provençal landscape — olive greens, azure blues, honey yellows, and more — echoing the fields, skies, and sunlight of the region. The shapes are elegant and versatile, designed to bring sophistication and a joyful splash of Provençal colour into your home.

Why Provence?
Provence evokes images of sunlit villages, lavender fields, vineyards, and olive groves — a landscape of rich colours and simple elegance. Over centuries, the region’s climate and culture have shaped a distinctive design philosophy: practical, functional, and always beautiful.

Even the shutters on Provençal houses tell this story. Designed to regulate heat in summer and retain warmth in winter, they are at once deeply practical and vividly aesthetic — often painted in bright colours that add character and life to the architecture. This balance is carried indoors too, where cool, understated schemes are lifted by bursts of colour from textiles, tiles, and ceramics. Provençal interiors never compete with the landscape — they complement it, bringing its natural beauty inside in carefully chosen details.

The Clue is in the Soil
The abundance of fine clay in Provence has long made the region a centre of ceramic and earthenware production. The same soil that nourishes lavender, vines, and olive trees also provides the raw material for timeless craftsmanship. In this atelier, traditional techniques meet fresh approaches to colour and form — a slower, more thoughtful process far removed from mass production.

Each piece in this collection tells a story of place, heritage, and artistry — carrying with it the warmth of Provence and the care of the hands that made it.
